"I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around."
Psalm 3:5-6
Who are you? What are you facing today? What is 'set against' you this morning?
"Set against" simply means something working for different outcome than you originally intended.
There are many possibilities things being set against. Money could be tight? Your marriage could be struggling? Maybe you have more friends on facebook than in real life? Perhaps you hate what you do and long for vacation?
God says: "do not be afraid, I will sustain you!"
He gives you three promises, in Psalm 3:5-6:
2. Rejuvenate - "and slept". Sleep is when we are rejuvenated. This happens when we open the word of God, read, and are rejuvenated by God's character in the text.
3. Rise Again - "I woke again." God lifts us up, rolls us out of bed, out of our difficulty, picks us up, and launches us into what ever it is we are to face today.
This happens to me at times when it's been long day at work and Im heading home to see the family. My energy is fried. My patience is gone. My strength wants to just curl up into a ball and stream Netflix. I find myself praying this kind of prayer.
No matter who you are? Or what you are facing? I pray this prayer for you:
May God give you strength to rise to the occasion today.
